LINDEN RIDING PONIES FROM THE PAST
Once again most of these photos are scanned from negatives over 25 years old and the quality reflects this! Sadly all negatives of the ridden ponies showed the effects of Auckland's humidity and were unusable.
Linden Promise (Riverflats Desert Wings X Airflow) A full sister to Riverflats Bay Wings and Riverflats Desert Air, Promise was very successful as a broodmare with her influence still felt to this present day. The names of her daughters Nala Petite Air and Nala Lynaire, both by Cusop Display, are still to be found in the pedigrees of many of our current New Zealand ponies
Linden Springtime (Riverflats Bay Wings x Miltondale Royal Castanya) An excellent broodmare and when bred to Cusop Display (Imp UK) produced the very lovely and successful grey Nala Joy's Display
Linden Summertime (Riverflats Bay Wings X Miltondale Royal Castanya). A beautiful pony, Summertime bred many lovely ponies for our stud all by Cusop Display (Imp UK) including the highly successful Linden Show Model, Linden Summer Cloud and last but by no means least our very special Linden Summer Song the oldest of our present broodmare band.
Linden Harvest Time (Riverflats Bay Wings x Miltondale Royal Castanya) Photographed as a yearling. A lovely girl with the sweetest of temperaments Harvest Time was very succesfully shown in the youngstock classes but tragically died before she had a chance to make her expected debut in the ridden pony classes.
Miltondale Royal Castanya (Royal Windsor (imp UK) x Kastana) A very prolific broodmare for our stud Castanya produced many highly successful ponies mostly by Riverflats Bay Wings including Linden Springtime, Summertime, Harvest Time, Four Seasons, Spring Again and the influencial stallion Linden Changing Times. Linden Misty Blue (Spindrift x Airflow) photographed as a yearling. A half brother to Riverflats Bay Wings, Misty Blue was a delightful youngster with true pony characteristics. Sold to Gisborne at an early age Misty Blue sired some exceptional ponies including Linden Misty Dream (exported Australia)
This would be one of the only existing phototgraphs of Airflow. Airflow was Linden Stud's foundation broodmare. A lovely pony showing wonderful true pony characteristics she had a great influence on our ponies and through her daughters Riverflats Desert Air and Linden Promise and her sons Riverflats Bay Wings and Linden Misty Blue this influence continues into the present day.
Linden Folk Song (Hi Cherie x Wind Song). Folk Song was one of the first ponies bred by the stud. A lovely type with a delightful nature he was sold to Hawkes Bay to start his ridden career. Sadly we never heard any more about him and he became just another pony to disappear into obscurity as unfortunately can sometimes happen.
Linden Shining Bright (Cusop Display (Imp UK) x Cobweb). Moving forward quite a few years Bright was one of the last ponies bred by the stud before it was temporarily disbanded. A full brother to such well known ponies as Linden Whisper, Illusion, Gossamer, Sweet Music and Chivalry. Bright is spending his senior years giving his very proud young rider a wonderful introduction to the pony world and once again demonstrationg the superb, gentle temperament of Cusop Display's progeny.
